A large share of the TVs and streaming boxes sold in Canada run Google’s TV software. Some show the older Android TV interface, while newer ones use Google TV, which adds personalized recommendations on the home screen. Underneath, both are built on Android, and both get their apps from the Google Play Store.
This guide shows how to install IBO Player Pro on these devices, how to open it for the first time, and what to try if the app does not appear. Remember that IBO Player Pro is a player only. It does not include channels; your content comes from your subscription.
Android TV or Google TV: Which Do You Have?
If your home screen is organized into tabs with large recommendation banners and a profile picture in the corner, you probably have Google TV. If it shows rows of apps with a simpler layout, it is likely Android TV. The installation steps are almost identical, and labels vary by brand and model, so focus on the general flow rather than exact wording.
Common devices include TVs from Sony, TCL and Hisense, along with streaming boxes such as the Google TV Streamer, Chromecast with Google TV and Nvidia Shield.
Before You Install
- Sign in to a Google account on the device. The Play Store needs one.
- Connect to the internet and confirm other apps can stream.
- Check free storage. Devices with little space may refuse new installs.
- Have your subscription email ready for the login step.
Step 1: Update the Device
Open Settings and look for a system or about section with a software update option. Install anything available and restart. Newer software helps app compatibility and can change which apps the store offers you.
Step 2: Find IBO Player Pro in the Play Store
Our installation page lists IBO Player Pro in the Google Play Store for Android devices. Listings can still vary by device, region and software version, so search on your own device to confirm.
- Open the Google Play Store app. On Google TV, you may reach it through the apps section or by searching from the home screen.
- Choose the search option and type IBO Player Pro, or use voice search with the remote.
- Check the developer name and description on the listing to make sure you have the right app, not a lookalike.
- Select Install and wait for the download to finish.
Step 3: Open the App and Allow Permissions
Select Open once the install finishes. The first launch may ask for permissions, for example to access storage. Read each request and allow only what the app needs to run. On first launch, you will see a screen for adding a playlist or login, or information on how to do so. The exact steps depend on the app version.
From there, follow our IBO Player Pro setup guide to enter your subscription details.
Step 4: Pin the App to Your Home Screen
Most Android TV and Google TV devices let you add an app to a favourites row on the home screen. Find the app in your apps list, hold the select button on the remote, and look for an option to add it to favourites or move it. This saves scrolling every evening.
If IBO Player Pro Does Not Appear
Store availability can change, and some devices see different listings from others. Before looking elsewhere, try these checks:
- Install any pending system update and search again.
- Search using the full name, and try the voice search option.
- Confirm you are signed in to the Play Store with your Google account.
- Check whether the device has enough free storage.
If it still does not appear, do not download the app from unofficial websites. Use only the official store listing or the developer’s official source, and consider one of the other players listed on our installation page for your device.
Troubleshooting After Installation
The App Closes Right After Opening
Restart the device, then try again. If it keeps happening, check for an app update in the Play Store, or uninstall and reinstall the app.
Installation Fails or Stalls
Low storage is the usual cause. Remove apps you do not use, restart the device and try the install again.
Typing With the Remote Is Slow
Some devices let you type from your phone using a TV remote app, or with a USB or Bluetooth keyboard. Support varies by model, but either option makes entering long login details much easier and reduces typing mistakes.
The App Opens but Shows Nothing
That is expected before you add a subscription. If you have added your details and still see nothing, our guide to fixing IBO Player Pro loading problems has the next steps.
